Many people don’t know but sign languages are in fact recognized languages. For deaf Brazilian people, LIBRAS (Língua Brasileira de Sinais – Brazilian Signs Language) is their first and native language. And, you guessed it, sign languages are NOT universal. The sign language in Brazil is different from any other sign language, and vice versa.
This video clip is from a sign language student: “My name is Anna and this is my final for a college level sign language class. I am not deaf and still learning sign language and encourage others to learn sign language as well! Thank you so much for all the love.”
